Two Days in Life: Summers Day, Bike Riding and Turtle Bay

Hey Dolls! I've had a very busy past two days with my best friend Harriet! Yesterday was the first day of proper sun we have had in England! It felt like it was finally summer but I knew that it would not stay like that. Although luckily for me, I'm jetting off to Turkey on Monday!! (Which I'm completely ecstatic about.) I will be vlogging about it on my vlog channel so hopefully there will be daily videos from next week! I'm so excited to vlog it because when I'll watch it back it will be so nice to remember everything that happened! To make the most of the sunny summer day, Harriet and I went out and took some photos and went for a bike ride to soak up the rays. I just love going on bike rides on warm summer days with friends! We also had to edit some videos for our channel vintagebeautygirls and had a lovely dinner at Harriet's nans house. The dessert was absolutely amazingg! Nawww. I slept over at Harriet's house which was so fun to have a girly night in! We watched Sex In The City 2 which was a great film! Chick Flicks are always my favourite movies it watch!

After our bike ride in the day, we decided to go for a proper bike ride in the morning! It was so nice to do something different and get some exercise too! I definitely will be doing that more often - building up them leg muscles! Haha. Later on that day, we took our mums to lunch at Turtle Bay which is a Caribbean restaurant. It was so good, but very spicy!! I had the Jerk Chicken with rice and stole a bit of my mums spicy chips, hehe. I really recommend it if you like spicy food. The drink I had was also amazing! I recommend  the passion fruit smoothie. Harriet picked the most amazing dessert. It was the dark chocolate pie which was basically a warm brownie with ice cream. It was soooo yummy! I really want to go there again because the restaurant was so cool and the food was delicious! After we walked around town and decided to call it a day because we were all so exhausted!  These past  couple of days have definitely been the start of summer for me! It was so fun and I can't wait for the rest of summer!! Sun makes everything better!

Have a lovely weekend filled with sun and love!

Love, xoxo

PROM 2012

Hey Dolls! Yesterday evening was my prom! I had so much fun with all my friends at prom and after prom and I'm so sad it's over because it was so nice to see everybody dressed up so nicely! It was a little stressful for me getting ready as I was doing 3 girls makeup and 1 girls hair! I had to start pretty early in order to get myself ready! Although, I had a lot of fun doing it and they all looked gorgeous!! I've been pretty busy this week with all the college taster days and preparing for prom! If you had prom this year I hope you all had a fabulous time! Thanks for reading this quick post and I'll leave you with some pictures! Love, xoxo

Beginning of Summer

Hey Dolls! In the late afternoon of 19th June 2012, my summer began. I can finally do whatever I want and not having to feel guilty about doing revision. Having over two months off education is amazing and I cannot wait to create amazing memories for this year's summer. My prom is in about two weeks which I am officially stressed over as I still haven't got my shoes or my final clutch and haven't decided about my hair or finalised my makeup! Despite all that, I'm still looking forward to seeing the beautiful dresses and getting to spend time with everyone in my year properly! Also, I am doing some peoples makeup which will be exciting!

Earlier on this week, my friends and I went to see Legally Blonde Musical in the theatre which was so good! I was already a big fan of the movie and was so excited to see it live! It was very humorous and I do highly recommend seeing it if you are a fan of chick flicks.

I am back on YouTube after a 2 week break due to my exams. I'm thrilled to start making my channel bigger and better! This summer I am focussing on making my videos more fun and different in terms of my makeup and fashion/styling videos. However, I still like to keep my channel personal and natural so my lovely subscribers can relate. My blog is also a thing I would like to continue to improve as it's a on going progress to make it how I want. I want to continue writing posts and hopefully you all enjoy reading! If you have ideas on what posts you would like to see from me, feel free to tell me! Love, xoxo

Prom Makeup Tips and Tutorial

Hey Dolls! In July I will be having my prom so I thought it would be a good idea to share my prom makeup tips to help you all. I also have a prom makeup tutorial uploaded on YouTube so check that out if you are stuck on ideas. Remember, photographs take away 70% of your makeup so apply it heavier than usual!

Face Tips

Prep
  • Start exfoliating your skin at least 2 times a week to remove the dead skin cells leaving a smooth clean base.
  • Test out makeup looks at least a week before and photograph yourself to see if the makeup is photo friendly.
  • If you are applying fake tan on yourself, practice first and start applying layers a week before to create a natural finish.
  • I recommend not to start using new skincare products if you are not sure it will go well with your skin otherwise it can cause blemishes which you don't want for prom!
Makeup
  • If you can get one, apply face primer on your face after you moisturised as the rest of your face makeup will have something to cling on to resulting in your makeup lasting so much more longer. Silicone base primers and some others will create a soft smooth base which will allow the foundation to go on smoother. This is because the primer will glide over your pores, creating a smooth base.
  • When choosing a foundation, pick one with a low SPF because the ingredient titanium oxide will make the flash photography bounce off creating a white pale outcast on your face. The foundation I used in the tutorial was Revlon Photo Ready which has tiny shimmer particles in it to try diffuse and blur imperfections. Remember to choose a foundation that is your exact or very close to your skin colour to avoid a foundation line or looking orangey or pasty! When applying the foundation, blend into the jaw line and neck. To create an 'airbrush' finish, use a duo fibre stippling brush. If you want a heavier coverage then I recommend using a synthetic buffing brush.
  • If you have oily skin, take a compact powder with you to touch up during the night. Pick a powder that doesn't create a white outcast on your face and will mattify your skin without making it look cakey. I recommend Revlon Colourstay Powder. You can also take blotting papers which will help blot of the oil. For dry skin girls it's not too much of a worry, but still powder your face after the foundation and concealer to keep the makeup sealed in.
Eye Tips
  • Before applying any eyeshadow, apply an eyeshadow primer to allow the eyeshadow to last all day. It also prevents creasing in the eyeshdow and makes the colours more vibrant. I use Urban Decay Primer Potion but for a cheaper alternative, E.L.F does a good one from the mineral range and also sells a face primer.
  • If you have brown eyes, purple, plums and eggplant tone colours will make them pop whereas if you have light eye colours like blue, bronze red tones will make them stand out.
  • For eyebrows, if you have light hair choose a colour that's one or two shades darker and if you have dark hair then choose a colour that is one or two shades lighter. For a natural finish use powder but if you want a more defined look then use pencil. I used both! Eyebrows are important as they frame your face.
  • Remember to blend blend blend the eyeshadow to prevent harsh lines
  • Apply a waterproof mascara to prevent it from smudging throughout the day
Lip Tips
  • Take your lipstick with you to touch up during the night. To make it last longer, you can apply a lip primer before.
  • If you are supporting a bold lip like the a red lip or a bright pink lip then apply lip liner all over your lips and then apply the lipstick and try and press it into your lips to create a stain. After, take half of a tissue and press it on your lips and apply powder to soak up the moisture making it last longer. Apply another coat of lipstick.
What makeup to take in your bag!
  • Compact Powder
  • Lipstick/Lipgloss
  • Concealer for touch ups

Hope you found this useful and have a fabulous time at Prom!! Love, xoxo

Spring

Hey Dolls. Happy April Fools! Hope you're all having a lovely 1st of April and pulling lots of funny tricks and jokes! I am so happy that I have 2 weeks off school, but unfortunately I still have to revise everyday for my GCSE's that are quickly creeping up! Today, I filmed two videos and currently saving and uploading one. Last weeks weather was amazing and soo hot and sunny! However, the weather temperature has really gone down which is such a shame as I love the sun! I am really liking the spring trends at the moment for makeup and fashion. My favourites for makeup are glowy baby skin, fluttery eyelashes, sporty flush cheeks and pastels like lilac on the eyes. For fashion, I have enjoyed looking at all the pretty pastel shades! I am in love with mint green jeans and I must get some asap! The Topshop pastel collection is just divine! I have also been seeing a lot of bright turquoise and corally shades too which I also really like. I'm really excited to see what the summer 2012 trends are going to be.

I am in love with this turquoise sheer shirt I got from Primark recently for £10. It's such a beautiful colour and I think it is perfect for spring and summer. For the summer you can wear it to the beach with your bathing suit underneath. The hat is also a love of mine. It's going to be perfect for holiday and them hot summer days to get the sun out of your face! I got this from New Look for only £1.50 on sale! How amazing is that?!

On my nails I've got on Nicole by O.P.I nail polish in 'My Lifesaver'. It's basically the same colour as the Primark shirt. It's one of my favourite colours and it puts me in such a summery mood. It looks amazing with a tan too! I have 2 coats of that as 1 coat was a little streaky. On my ring finger I have a sliver glittery nail polish by E.L.F in 'Glitter Glam' diagonally across half of my nail. I think it makes it more interesting and I love the look of it. Normally I class glitter nail polishes more of a wintery look but when it's paired with a bright vibrant colour, it looks great. Thanks for reading Dolls! Love, xoxo

Friday Update + OOTN

Hey Dolls! I haven't been blogging lately so I thought it would be a good idea to give you all an update to what I have been doing lately. I'm aware that my last post was basically called the same thing but instead of OOTN it was OOTD. What can I say? I do like to blog on a Friday night! ...

My GCSE exams are creeping up so quickly and I'm getting so scared! I better start revising.. soon! I can't believe I will be attending collage this year and then I'll be able to drive the year after!! :O Life defiantly goes way too fast. I am especially excited for this summer as I think it will be so fun as I have no school work to do as its all done and dusted. I can just relax and have fun for a whole 2 months or so, which I'm so pumped about!

Recently I went to Prezzo's with all my girls to celebrate my friends birthday. It was so fun and Harriet and I ordered pizza and pasta to share. The picture shows what I was wearing on the night!

Clothes Shown:

- Shirt: Primark
- Jean Jacket: vintage
- Jeans: ONLY (Bank)
- Shoes: Urban Outfitters
- Bag: Topshop

How lovely are these shoes?  I love them!! Me and my sister share them and we got them on sale for £40!!

I had a really good night and really like the outfit I was wearing. It was also my sisters and brothers birthday recently and my mum made them an amazing cake!! I love the cakes she makes. Speaking of my mumma, it's actually mothers day soon! I'm not too sure on what to get her as a gift yet. Do you know what your getting your mum? My mum isn't the easiest person to get a good gift that she will love and she's not too bothered with all the body products and makeup products. Hopefully I will find something perfect!

I have some really good video ideas for my beauty channel on YouTube and I'm so excited to film them!! On the 16th March it will officially be one year since I uploaded my first ever video on glamerdoll! How crazy is that?! It defiantly hasn't felt like one year since I recorded my first video-which was 'What's in my school bag'. I've got a vague idea of what special video I want to do but do you have any ideas? I know that after that 1 year video I will be uploading another video that you will all adore!!
Love, xoxo

My dad had recently got an iPhone 4S for business and I got soo excited as I can share it! I've been playing with it all night! My favourite app is probably Instagram. If you have this app then follow me if you want! My username is shannontang. Of course like everyone, I've been also enjoying the game 'Temple Run'. It's so additive and I don't know why! Probably because I'm just determined to get a higher score. Do you recommend any other good apps? I was also very happy because I can easily direct upload youtube videos on my vlog channel. I already uploaded one this morning showing what makeup I was wearing. Click here to see the video. This means that I will be able to upload more vlog videos on my vlog channel! I will be naming them iVlog so keep an eye out for that! Thank you for reading and I will blog to you all soon!

Glossybox January 2012

Hello Dolls! I've recently received a January GlossyBox and I was so excited to open and have a peak around all the products. This is one of my first GlossyBox reviews on my blog, so I shall introduce to you what this concept is, if you don't know already. (Even though I'm sure you will because it is talked about a lot within the internet.) GlossyBox is a website where you subscribe and pay £10 a month plus P&P to receive 5 sample luxury beauty products. However, one of the products in the box are normally full size. The box also comes with a letter to update you about GlossyBox and a card that you open that shows you all the products you receive with the full price and an explanation about them. Their iconic boxes are normally light pink, but on special occasions like Christmas and Valentines Day, they change the colour of the box and paper inside. I really like how GlossyBox puts loads of effort in their packaging. Now you know a bit about this beauty box, I will get onto this months.

This box was the Valentines Day edition and it came in the most gorgeous hot pink box with light pink squiggly paper inside. It had 5 products with a little sweet with GlossyBox printed on it which I thought was just adorable! I was pleased with the products I received as I thought it was a good variety of products.
The products included are:

- Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner in Emerald Green
- Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream
- Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream
- FAB Gentle Body Wash
- Murad Hybirds Skin Perfecting Primer (Dewy Finish)

Eyeko's eyeliner excited me because I've never tried this brand and longingly always wanted to try out their products. It's a pencil eyeliner with a long skinny silver wand-type handle at the end. I do think the wand is a little too long, but I do think it'a a good idea because once you sharpened it too much, it becomes very small and the handle will make it easy to use still. I got a dark-ish green colour with a satin slight shimmery finish. Some boxes do come with different colours like light pink. This eyeliner goes on smoothly and claims not to smudge. It gives a beautiful colour pay off and blends easily if you're looking to smudge the eyeliner for a more smoky effect. Since I have dark brown eyes, the green goes really well with my eyes and doesn't look harsh when I apply it. Black can look too harsh on my waterline at times if I don't wear a smoky eye, so green is suitable to wear in the day and the colour doesn't close up my eye and make them look smaller. I feel like it wouldn't smudge during the day, but if you were to rub your eyes or touch it then it would come off slightly.

The Clarins day and night cream didn't appeal to me as much because it is marketed as a firming cream, so I guess that it is targeted to more mature women. It says that the night cream will renewal the skin complexion and the day cream will infuse skin with firming benefits that are immediate and long lasting. I gave these two products for my mum to try as I feel she would be able to give a better review on it. She hasn't tried it much yet so I will update this post once she has a better review on this product.

The FAB body wash is also a thing I have not yet tried fully. I was intrigued by the packaging as it's very pretty! I tested it on my arm quickly and it seems to give a milky consistency but slightly thicker. It comes out as a gel texture and doesn't give bubbles when massaging it into the skin. It claims to provide a irritant-free cleansing and hydrating feel on the skin which I partly agree with. I don't necessarily agree that it gives that much moisture to the skin although I would need to try it out more to judge fully.

The final product is the Murad primer. This I have tried for a few days and it is written to be an oil-free primer which ignites a radiant glow, powered by light-enhancing minerals. For the days I have been using this product, I don't see a massive glow effect on my skin that I notice that well. It has fine shimmers in it that you would only notice if you were looking very closely at your face. I didn't even notice it had shimmers until I just tested it on the back of my hand. It gives a slight dewy finish, but I don't think it keeps all your makeup on all day. The packaging it really sleek with a black bottle with a pump which is really handy. I shall keep on using this product and update you on how I feel either on here or on my Youtube channel.

So, here's what I got in my Glossybox and I was so happy and thankful to get this. Yet again, a long blog post but I hope you don't mind!! Hope you found this useful and interesting to read. Love, xoxo
